Exploring Policy Responses to Declining Enrollment in Denver
Denver Public Schools (DPS) is forecasted to lose roughly 5,300 students by 2030. As enrollment falls, districts face hard policy choices, including school closure and redrawing enrollment boundaries and zones.

Yet, researchers know surprisingly little about how districts respond to declining enrollment. This study seeks to address this gap by exploring how Denver is responding to declining enrollment — and, importantly, how parents and families experience these changes.
If you are a parent of an elementary-age student in Denver, we want to learn about your perspective.
Interested in Participating?
The research team is looking for parents of elementary-age children in Denver to participate in interviews. You're eligible if you are the parent or guardian of a child currently enrolled in, or whom you are considering enrolling in, a DPS elementary school.

Your participation involves:

A 60-minute interview conducted in person, scheduled at your convenience

​A casual conversation (no right or wrong answers)

A $50 gift card as a thank-you for participating​

Interviews will be audio-recorded so the research team can accurately capture your responses. Your participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time. Your responses will be kept confidential, and no identifying information will appear in any published material from this study.
